Iz suffered from severe obesity and at one point carried 758 pounds (344 kg) on his 6 feet 2 inches (1.9 m) frame. He endured several hospitalizations and died of weight-related respiratory illness on June 26, 1997 at 12:18 am at the age of 38...i hope he is in heaven now...we miss u "IZ"...you are a good example to many...

What was it exactly that he died of, I know he was morbidly obese and everything but was it like heart failure or something to do with his lungs?
I am asking simply because I am curious and I am interested in what took this great man from us

he was, he is and he will forever be Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ( the fearless eyes the bold face). an amazing person, a huge sweet soul with the voice of an Angel. I suggest you discover the rest of his work and for sure his biography: IZ voice of the people, to understand his greatness. the album Ka'Ano'I , his first solo, is probably the best. I;m from italy and this shows how international this man is. I love him
