BorisMaximus... Please first learn how to spell before you start talking to people who have knowledge in this field of work or atleast get to grade 6 before you start talking to us about one of the most complicated subjects in the aviation world

What is the point of ILS if it cannot land automatically, the first ILS system was at London Heathrow with a Hawker-Sidley Trident, and had to be landed with no pilot intervention in zero visibilty. If a glideslope and localizer are available, then autoland can be performed. It is usually up to the flying pilot.

Westjet has a hellava bunch of pilots... great landing, great video.

You are all retards that know nothing about aviation. Go away and play with flite sim or masturbate to relieve your tension. And btw, you can auto-land a suitably equipped aircraft anywhere you want with an ILS and no it's not illegal. Sheesh where do you people come up with this stuff? The only landings that are mandated to be auto-land are CAT III.

Nope pretty much all of them have to be landed manually except CAT 3c. I asked one of my Airline Buddies and he gave me the low down. I thought that too but i guess not.

im pretty sure CAT 1 is manual, but CAT2/3a,b and c are all automatic
Mattd166 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Actually now that i think of it! Sorry, You are wrong CAT 1 and CAT 2 must be landed manually. CAT 3A still has to be done manually. CAT 3B AGAIN!! still has to be landed manually. CAT 3C can be landed using AP but does not HAVE to be!

Oh thanks for the info! i did not know that one of my friends in the AF said the pilot must land the plane manually. Where can i find the CAtegories of ILS?
NorthofYou1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Wrong. Cat III must be auto pilot flown. Check your regs.

Excuse me it IS illegal to let the plane land itself it has to be landed by the pilot or else its agains TC rules |
