The line "crown of shit" was changed to "crown of thorns", not only removing profanity from the lyrics, but also more directly referencing Christ. The cover was released on a single with the B-side "Personal Jesus", a cover of the Depeche Mode single.

Naw man NIN wrote this song long before Johny Cash it came out in the early 90's Johny made his version after he got really sick and that was his last music video he made don't get me wrong his version is good to and he was a great song writer to so may R.I.P.
