lol, shallow you fail so hard.
You get called out on your BS and all you can do is think of some shitty insult.

I can't agree with this being stealing. The songs may sound similar in the parts you chose, but they are very different once complete. Call it inspiration. Imagine you're an orchestra composer (like Kanno is) and suddenly, you want to write some jazz. What else could you do, but to listen to great jazz artists and find inspiration in their work? And it takes skills to do so. I want to see you "stealing" like she does.

Her songs are so close to the originals, I feel bad that I'd liked 'her' music before.
There's nothing wrong with studying other music and borrowing tricks to get a certain feel you want, but when you actually use the same beats, and in some instances the same tunes, that's just dirty.
kagebakemono (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
actually this is called a cover. A cover of an original song is your own version of the song not mixed enough to be considered a remix. To pay homage is to redo the song exactly in most cases but either way it goes it isnt copyright infringement or plagiarism. these people seem to be the same people singing but they arent using the same lyircs so it might even be a whole other song altogether that just sound alike.

If she was stealing, she'd be getting sued by the original composers. Homage =/= stealing.
iharten (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Jesus, it's called paying hommage. Artists do it all the time. If Kanno was trying to recreate a certain style (as she did in Bebop) then it's natural for her to use existing songs as the basis for her work.
Anyone remember the scene in episode 1 of CB where Spike is wearing a poncho and hat that made him look like Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?
Did anyone see that and scream ZOMG CHARACTER DESIGNER RIPPED OFF EASTWOOD!
No, because that would be dumb.

I thought i told you to go mop the floor dumbass?
V0L0DYMYR (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Sorry, I assumed you weren't a complete idiot. In the "special features," (normally video segments available on almost all DVDs these days) you can see people involved with the final product (you know, like the movie or show you are watching). You say Yoko Kanno doesn't give any credit to the original music, and I said, "watch the special features noob," I still feel it was fairly clear. If you are that dense, she does credit it in the special features. Dummy.
shallowmaster (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Noob?? Haahahaha. Go mop the bathroom floors at burger king you deluded, backwards moron. Special feature? What the hell are you talking about? When making reference to something make sure we are all informed otherwise you just sound dumb. |
