Narciso Yepes is my all time favorite guitar player! I remember the day when he died. My classical guitar was lying under my bed as usual. That night, the G-string snapped (never happened before) and I woke up by the noise. The next morning I read the sad news that Narciso had died and the first thing I thought was that Narciso had visited me and had cut the G-string! He means a lot to me, my first guitar LP record was a compilation of spanish composers, played by Narciso.

Ah, thank you very much for this information. I did wonder if the lowest strings were there to add resonance. I'm a pianist, not a guitarist, so I don't know much about the guitar, but I could see that Yepes was playing on the higher strings

narsisco yepes helped develop the ten string guitar as a way of balancing the resonances produced by the guitar by adding the extra bass strings, if you wiki 10 string guitar there's more info there.
