Superb superlative version. The original and by far much better than EC. One of the great british antiwar songs.

Definitely the best version. His voice carries the sentiment so well.

Clive Langer also produced the Costello album this comes from. He also seems to have been a pretty active musician, he was involved in Deaf School in the 70s in believe. Didn't realise he wrote the music for this though.

Leonocusto666.I have been lucky to meet Robert on number of occassions few years ago. However he looks much older on this film.Could you possibly say when it has been recorded? Many thanks for posting!Best wishes!

Beautiful track, first version I knew came from Elvis Costello's album Punch the clock. Nice to see Mark Bedford from Madness play the bass, suppose he's as underrated as Robert Wyatt. I think I read once that Clive Langer, who produced Madness, Costello, Dexy's Midnight Runners etc., wrote the music for this song. Thanks for putting this video up!

This is a brilliant song. I first came across it when Hue & Cry covered it.
