You're right-he was at a halloween party and there was a noose hanging from the ceiling. He stood on a chair and put his neck through it to pose for pictures. Later that night, he and his girlfriend were fighting when she said "I should have kicked the chair out from under you." He wrote a song about it after they broke up.

i heard somewhere that it was about something his then girlfriend said. aparantly he sed to pretend to hang himself at parties, and once his girlfriend said that if he carried on he'd kick the chair from under him. i dont know if that is true though.
