Dead Can Dance - The Carnival Is Over

Ukulele Videos

Dead Can Dance video "The Carnival Is Over" directed by Ondrej Rudavsky. [From Dead Can Dance box set "1981-1998"]. Words fail when describing this masterpiece. 6th September 2007 note: I added this video a year ago and I have received amazing feedback about it - it's wonderful to see how this video touched so many people all over the world. At the time of the upload there was only another version in YouTube with poor sound so I decided to take this one from the box-set DVD improving the video a little and the sound a whole lot - on hindsight perhaps I could have use slightly less video compression but I'm happy with the result. The original song was taken from "Into the Labyrinth" album - which I heartily recommend, along with the whole Dead Can Dance discography. http://www.deadcandance.com/ http://www.brendan-perry.com/ http://www.lisagerrard.com/ Video director official site: http://www.nicolas-mermet.com/...

Hello all, Actually, "Cirque' Du Soleil" most likely had inspirational incantations from "Dead Can Dance" rather, than the other way around: since, DCC was far preceeding (in melody); social imaginagy; hypnotic beat; and in musical sensibility, which placed them in a rather special loci of the mid-80's "Goth" underground community. Best, Michael

Humm - I believe you are referring to the style of the performers in the video being too akin to the style of nouveau cirque the Canadian based company Circle Du Soleil normally uses - but even though they are around since the early 80's their performances, from my point of view are only relevant in terms of general influence from the mid 90's (1996 particularly) onwards - the Dead Can Dance release is from 1993.

I remember when you held my hand In the park we would play when the circus came to town. Look! over here...at 2:25 it shivers down my spine.
