Sweep Picking Lesson

Ukulele Videos

I made this over 2 years ago and supposedly it has helped a lot of people learn how to sweep. (but i doubt it) i had been playing almost 3 years at the time so my technique is actually pretty bad, now that i've improved a bit. this vid has some good starting stuff for learning the technique, even if it is really basic and dumb altogether. (my video) oh, and btw. just because you do a sweep doesn't mean you played a lick. licks need to sound good, and you have to make something melodic to sound good, just doing random sweeps means you are retarded and have no sense of melody. (like me in my video) so yeah, always try to make musical phrases that you could even hum to when you write solos or anything. otherwise you are just dumbing down the music community and making it harder for me to wade through the terrible, terrible majority of music out there to get to the good stuff. thanks.

This actually did help me. Thanks. Just today I've started doing ok sweeping. Granted it will take me a while to get up to your speed, but I'll just keep practicing. Thanks! It helped me a lot more than some other "teaching" videos by some professional and famous guitarists.

nice i tried but the fretting with fast speed is hard

Ok thanks, I have been practicing with a thin pick and there is alot of flapping noise.

thicker picks are easier and sound better , you hear less flapping of the pick and the notes come out louder so you dom't need to pick as hard

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me out with my sweeping? When I attempt to sweep I can never get the smooth motion over the strings... It just feels like the same friction as normal alternate picking. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be great, thanks !
