It would never come to Second World War if the France and the Great Britain they arose from his obligations. ( the defensive pact with Polish) and they support the Poland in September 1939. Great Britain, France and Poland together conquer the Germany. And it would not come to this nightmarish war.

I agree, of course. But who of us can curb the appetites of these "masters of war." We don't figure one iota in their decisions. Kissinger is known for saying that soldiers are dispensable--nothing more than something they invest in!

No, we're not English immigrants. I'm descendant from the French that settled in Nova Scotia (Acadia) in 1632 who were forceably removed in 1755, then settled in Louisiana in 1767. They became citizens of America in 1804 when Napoleon sold the Louisiana Territory to Thomas Jefferson. Father is German/Scotch-Irish . . . so there--Micmac and crypto-Jewish to boot! Hey! My father was Commander and Chief Engineer of an LST (attacked at ANZIO). Never talked about it much but came out of WWII very anti-war. They wanted to send him to the Pacific, but he went to Washington and somehow impressed upon them that "he's done his part," and he stayed stateside for the rest of the war. I like to think he "knew" it was a sham--war for the sake of the war, as it were.

stephenloof - You're right about Stalin, he also starved his people to death before WW2 imposing extreme & unfair taxes on their corn. This was so he could build a canal! What a man eh?
