nice montage.
I'll give "best finish" to Giacamo in '05 and runner up to Grindstone in '96. Grindstone probably made up more ground over the last few seconds as any horse I've ever seen.

That's weird that whoever made this montage picked the year that I have attended. I started in 87 and haven't missed one since then. Very Nice.

Thanks for the info Prior. I think Durkin is a great announcer for the races. I would like to hear him use that term though.

"Down the Stretch they Come" was coined by track announcer Dave Johnson, and he called races for ABC. After 2000 NBC won the rights to broadcast the Kentucky Derby and they brought in Tom Durkin, the track announcer for the Breeders Cup and the New York Racing Association, which operates Aquaduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga Race Course.

So because it's a different guy he can't use one of the great lines in sports? Does the original guy have a patent on the line?

Because its a different announcer... |
