My Father fought on Okinawa and was severly wounded there on May 16, 1945. He was in the army, 96th Division, 382nd Infantry and was a B.A.R. (automatic rifleman). He suffered greatly his whole life due to this injury. These me who fought on Okinawa were brave men. This was an absolutely nighmarish battle.

It is often difficult to tell WHO killed 22 million russians in world war 2. Maybe the Germans killed them all, maybe the Russian government killed a portion.

And USA only became active in the war after Pearl Harbor, which was half way through the war. USA didn't do as much as other countries such as the Soviet Union, but before they joined, it looked as though the Nazis would win.
